In Devon, on my wedding day

About me

Before coming to the UK I lived all my life in my native Russia. My home was the ancient and historic walled city of Pskov, which is on the River Velikaya in the Northwest of Russia. Pskov Lake, on the border with Latvia, is well known in Russia. I return to see my mother and father and my son's family at least once a year.

I emigrated to England in 2005 and live with my English husband in a small and beautiful village in the South Hams of Devon. I confess it has not always been simple for me in England, leading a very different way of life and having to learn a new language and culture. I have passed the "Life in the UK" test and I am also learning to drive! In the beginning I found work in a pub, but now more and more people are aware of what I am able to offer in music and it is helpful that the language of music is so universal!

I started playing piano as a very young girl and realised early on that I wanted to have a career in music. My mother had to make many sacrifices to buy me a piano, and she always encouraged me to play. I also love ice skating, but she would not let me go on the ice because she was afraid I would fall and damage my hands. She was OK with me reading and gardening though!

From those early days, when I would practise on my own for hours, I went to music school and then on to university where I was awarded my degree as a piano tutor with honours in accompaniment.

I love music and I love to play but I also love to teach and I get huge satisfaction from my students doing well.
